We recently made our first hire since the onset of Coronavirus. Antonio Lupoli joins us as the lead programmer for Entelligently and will also be working with us on customer chatbots.

Introductions

First, Can you tell us your name and where you are from?

Map of Italy highlighting Puglia

Puglia is the red section on the heel of the Italy boot.

My name is Antonio Lupoli. I’m from a region of Italy called Puglia.

What did you study?

I have studied Computer Science at the University of Portsmouth.

Is there something you would like to learn whilst at KnowNow?

I want to learn more about how a company works and understand how different people cooperate to reach a common goal; while also improving and building upon my technical/coding skills.

What hobby would you get into if time and money weren’t an issue?

Videography.

What music would you listen to if you wanted to feel great?

Usually, I would listen to Metal (Heavy, Thrash, Doom and basically all of the other sub-genres). I have found out that this kind of music charges me mentally and feeds my creativity (more than what I initially expected).

Which film would you watch if you could only watch one more film?

This is a very difficult question for me, being passionate about stories and cinema. I would probably say Inglourious Basterds by Quentin Tarantino, but The Lighthouse by Robert Eggers and The Seventh Seal by Ingmar Bergman could also be a good choice.

Black and White picture of Jorge Luis Borges

Jose Luis Borges.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would you pick and what would you cook?

It depends. If I had the choice to have dinner with someone from any point in human history, I would probably say the argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges and I would buy us an ice cream. If I had to choose someone still alive, I would say the actor Christoph Waltz – I would simply love to see how chatting with him would be, but I have honestly no Idea of what I would cook.

Are there any companies that you admire?

I’d say Apple. I do like the way Apple has created a conception around their products, a distinctive feel around the design. Other choices would be the video game companies CD Projekt Red and Kojima Production.

Can you think of a surprising fact about yourself or something rare that you have achieved?

Contrary to what it might look like by reading my background, I am really into Humanities (I guess you noticed it through my previous answers).

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

I would spend the extra time writing novels or scripts.

What is the most annoying thing that other people do?

Categorize people based on the first information they have about them.

What would be your ideal adventure?

The Trans-siberian railway map

The Trans-siberian railway. It’s pretty long…

Going through the Trans-Siberian railway, all the way to the shores of Asia, to then visit Japan … and back.

What takes up too much of your time?

Thinking about how to organise what to do and thinking about how to do it. I like to plan things properly, but sometimes it takes too much time.

What was the furthest you have ever been from home?

Funny enough, London is the furthest I have been. I aim to beat this record soon.

What is worth spending more on to get the best?

Transportation. One hour in an Uber is surely better than five in a bus. Talking from experience.

Can you name something that everyone else loves but you don’t?

Television.

You are president of the world – what new rule would you make?

Anyone must read at least 1 book and watch 1 film a month.

Is there anything else you want to tell us?

The cake is a lie.

Well, it certainly seems that Antonio is a little more culturally aware than we are used to. We will have to feed him high art and low code if we don’t want him to throw his companion cube into the incinerator.

You can read more about Entelligently, the software that Antonio is working on, here.
