VivaTech Paris – Consentua on tour

VivaTech Paris

VivaTech Paris Entrance at Parc D’Expositions.

VivaTech Paris 2017

The KnowNow team were at VivaTech in Paris recently.  We were there to man a stand and pitch to a panel.  Tom & I had been invited by Air France to participate as they wanted to know more about Consentua. Our new personal data consent management service.

This was the first time we had taken Consentua to a trade show.  We had a great time and had some fanatics interest in our new service.

Review of KnowNows Rollercoaster 2016

What a Year! What a Ride!

2016 was a very interesting year from KnowNow’s perspective.   We made a decision to pivot, we won some battles, lost some skirmishes and we have made some customers very happy.     We also had to say goodbye to some old friends too.  As Dave & I both said to each other at our end of year review  “it has been a rollercoaster of a year!”.

Access to Finance and Growth 2016

Do you occasionally have a great idea for a new product or service? Would you like to see how you can take those ideas and build upon them until that new product or service is available in the market? On 14th September KnowNow will run a workshop at ACCESS TO FINANCE AND GROWTH 2016 held at Portsmouth Guildhall.

Access to Finance and Growth 2016, Wednesday 14th September, Portsmouth

This is a full day event for 500 entrepreneurs designed to help YOU understand different ways of financing and growing your business and to put you in touch with industry experts. The event will take place at Portsmouth Guildhall and the programme includes Key Note Speakers; Workshops; Breakout Sessions; Networking; Pitching, Panel Q&As, Awards and Networking.

The Workshop

We will be running a workshop on Taking Innovation to Market – helping delegates to create a structure for developing their innovations by Empathising with their potential users, defining the problem that their user experiences and creating ideas for solving that problem.

It is designed as a thought exercise that doesn’t need to rely on technology and is relevant for potential entrepreneurs as well as new or established businesses, small and large.

At KnowNow we have created new services and applications both for our customers and also some award winning products of our own such as the 2014 open data prize winning Flood Event Model. We use our project ideas template to evaluate the potential projects that we could work on so that we can either decide to focus on an idea or to let it fail quickly!

Our workshop will run from Noon until 1pm, immediately before lunch. You can book up for the day using the Eventbrite link below

Cognicity Wrap Up – The Result

Firstly, congratulations to Voyage Control & PolySolar on winning Cohort One of the Cognicity Challenge.     Thing is, even though KnowNow has not won the competition I can safely say we are already a Cognicity winner.  How come?  Simply having been part of this challenge KnowNow has already won so much.   Has the challenge been worthwhile then?  Hell Yeah!

KnowNow is a winner too!

Why?  By entering the challenge KnowNow was given an an opportunity to stop talking about the kn-i app.  KnowNow went and created it!   Check out the  beta version of our kn-i app here

Two reminders:

 i) This is browser only still (runs best on Chrome);

ii) new releases & builds occur occasionally so if not available first time please try again later.

My thanks to the KnowNow development team, Kevin, Tom & Connor for creating the app and platform.  KnowNow would appreciate any feedback on the app tweet us @knownowinfo

KnowNow Final Pitch for Cognicity

Week 12 @ Cognicity – Pitching time

The kn-i Pitch

After 11 weeks on a start up challenge.   One of the net results is a better pitch on what your product does and how you better sell yourself and what you do.    On the 13th April, David & I got the chance in 5 minutes to pitch to Canary Wharf Group.

Here is that pitch including a few of the slides we used.

Countdown

Week 8 to 11 @ Cognicity – Final Countdown

Final Countdown

Apologies for the break in the blog cycle and the jump to week 11 from the last update way back on week 7.  A personal saga has been my prime focus.  However,  loads has happened and we are now on the final stretch of Cognicity.

Countdown

Final Countdown

Week 8 was all about Interoperability.  Plus we got to pitch to Sir George!  Week 9 we should have met the client but missed the meeting.  Week 10 we finally did meet the client.   We are now on the final countdown gunning towards the finishing line.

Cognicity has been a hugely positive deal for KnowNow.  A truly fab experience so far and you never know.  We may even win it!

Week 6 at Cognicity – Reflection

Reflection now we are half way through…

The highlight for KnowNow on week 6 at Cognicity had to be the superb PR & marketing workshop. Yet again the high standard of workshops delivered by Cognicity is maintained. The other news was on the interoperability front, with an agreement in principle between KnowNow & Buzz Streets to collaborate on a use case for the demo day; as well as a very productive discussion with Milos Milisavljevic the CEO of Strawberry Energy. More reflection on those developments later.

As per the heading, as KnowNow is half way through the challenge perhaps now is also a good opportunity to reflect too.  What were KnowNow’s expectations and how does this compare to what has happened?  Plus what lies ahead in the next 6 weeks.

Week 5 @ Cognicity = Focus

FOCUS IS THE KEYWORD

This weeks blog is a highlight of two really excellent workshops and some great mentor feedback.  Plus,  for the first time, the whole KnowNow team (that is all 3 of us) spent the day in Canary Wharf, more on that experience later.   Level 24 was busier too due to the second cohort starting, the buzzing vibe is getting louder!

Week 4 @ Cognicity

That Was the Week That Was

TWTWTW @ Cognicity

That Was the Week That Was

The 4th week at Cognicity KnowNow saw us receive a number of visitors to our Level 24 office.  Which amongst the many highlights led to a more developed cultural use case for the Docklands Museum.    Plus we participated in a great product development workshop.  More on that later in the blog.   The challenge participants are embracing interoperability which is great news for the kn-i platform, the Cognicity Challenge and Canary Wharf.   On a news note, David & I had a great discussion with our home city.  Watch this space to see if kn-i will be landing in Portsmouth soon. Well  by 2016 we hope!

From a challenge perspective we are a third of the way through. A great vibe is brewing on Level 24 as the teams settle into a pattern, helping each other out and starting to see how we will deliver a cool demo in 8 weeks!   Check out the KnowNow Wall including our banner in the picture below.  The second cohort starts on Monday.  We the first cohort feel like veterans now the newbies are starting.   Exciting times.

Week 3 @ Cognicity

Cognicity and KnowNow in The News

KnowNow was pleased to be in its local rag the ‘Portsmouth News’   this week which was great coverage for KnowNow and extends awareness of Cognicity down to the South Coast.  Our 3rd week at Cognicity started with a highlight – a workshop session led by Mischa Dohler.  It was a privilege to share stories, thoughts and ideas with Mischa for a morning.

This week also saw us entertain a few visitors too.   It is great having such a cool work place.  level 24 of One Canada Square.   The view is to die for!
